Hakim Dyer, CEO
Hakim Dyer is the CEO of Dyer & Company in Baltimore, Maryland. He is an author, a Certified Profit Coach, and a finance professional with over 37 years in international commercial banking, corporate finance, community development venture capital, and roles as a Chief Financial Officer in growth companies.
Professional Background
Among his many achievements, Hakim is known for launching one of the first community development venture capital funds in the US and leading the first Treasury Department-approved Islamic home financing program in US history.
Passion for Equitable Finance
Hakim is passionate about raising the quality of local and national discourse concerning capital and business investment. He is clear that wealth inequality, banking consolidation, and globalization have steadily driven familiarity with capital dynamics out of the consciousness and reach of the small and middle-market businesses that would have local and regional markets thrive.
At the grass-roots level, that means working hand-in-hand with entrepreneurs to provide the training and coaching that has them become fluent in the language of finance. For investors and financiers, it also means helping to guide and coach entrepreneurs through processes and scrutiny for which they may otherwise be unprepared. Ultimately, Hakim excels at balancing situations that require capital equity to achieve a win/win that seeds growth.
Other Bits
Hakim is a native of New York City. He was raised in Massachusetts and graduated from Dartmouth College (BA), Middlebury College (MA), and the Paris Change of Commerce and Industry (Advanced Diploma, High Honors). His avocations include outdoorsmanship, cartooning, and jazz guitar. Hakim is fluent in French and has also applied his creative linguistic skills to voice-acting and on-screen performances.
